Best MicroSD Memory Cards

Last Updated: Nov 27, 2019

MicroSD is a common type of removable flash memory card used in mobile devices such as cameras and some smartphone and tablet models with an expandable storage option. Aside from memory size, a quality card is dependable, durable and has a fast read, and particularly, write speed. The SD Association provides a classification of write speeds (for example, Class 10 supports 10MB/sec). It's especially important in the case of recording live video to purchase a card with a sufficient write speed to keep up.

This guide is going to be short and sweet, as the list below includes only 2 quality options. No need to waste time looking at others.

The Samsung EVO Select comes in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 512GB sizes. Read and write speeds are 100MB/sec and 90MB/sec, respectively, and can be used to record 4K video. It's shockproof, waterproof, and resilient to temperature, x-ray and magnetic fields. It comes with a full-size adapter or optional reader bundle for file transfer to a PC.

The specifications of the Samsung EVO Select (above) applies to the SanDisk Extreme, except a very large 1TB size is also available. Another benefit is a faster read speed of 160MB/sec, and consequently, it's slightly more expensive.
